Supplementation of yacon extract at a dose giving 140mg/kg fructooligosaccharides daily for 120 days in obese and slightly dyslipidemic women (directed to take the syrup an hour before two meals of the day) noted reductions in weight associated with improvements in self-reported satiety during the study diet (intentional hypocaloric diets).Funding issues for this study:
There were other benefits seen with supplementation, but these benefits are confounded with weight loss (due to either yacon or a reduction in food intake) and are also known to occur with weight loss.
