In a randomized, double-blind crossover trial, 10 male recreational exercisers were given 3 mg/kg of Rhodiola extract or placebo separated by 48-72, and participated in cycling exercise trials. Rate of perceived exertion was somewhat significantly when taking Rhodiola after 30 minutes, of cycling. Energy expenditure was slightly, nonsignificantly higher, carbohydrate oxidation wasn't notably different, and neither was fat oxidation. Arousal, vigor, and pleasure during exercise were significantly higher when taking Rhodiola.
