Studies related to Aerobic Exercise and Rhodiola Rosea

The Effects Of An Acute Dose Of Rhodiola Rosea On Endurance Exercise Performance

Effect Increase
Values Time to completion (min) ergometer test. Mean and SD Rhodiola: 25.4 (2.7) Placebo: 25.8 (3.0)
Trial Design Randomized trial
Trial Length 24 hours
Number of Subjects 18
Sex Both Genders
Notes for this study:
In a randomized, double-blind, crossover trial, 18 recreationally active participants took 3 mg/kg of Rhodiola Rosea or placebo one hour prior to endurance testing on a bicycle ergometer.

When taking Rhodiola, participants took less time to complete the trial, which was statistically significant compared with placebo. Power output was nonsignificantly higher, while heart rate wasn't different. Lactate and salivary cortisol weren't different, while salivary alpha-amylase was higher when taking Rhodiola. When taking Rhodiola, participants noted less fatigue and confusion, but anger, vigor, depression, tension, and performance on the Stroop test weren't notably different than placebo. The rate of perceived exertion was lower when taking Rhodiola
