In overweight hyperlipidemic persons consuming 22-44g of pyruvate (divided into three doses throughout the day) in conjunction with a low fat/cholesterol and calorie controlled diet over 6 weeks, body weight differences were significant (0.7kg loss relative to 0.1kg loss in control) although the beneficial trends in HDL cholesterol and all other blood parameters were insignificant.
