Mitochondrial cytopathies are caused by dysregulated mitochondrial metabolism. Symptoms include exercise intolerance, low muscle tone, voluntary muscle control dysfunction, irregular heartbeat. and central nervous, gastrointestinal, and endocrine system dysfunction.
