Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is a potent psychedelic drug first synthesized in 1938 by the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann. Preliminary evidence suggests that LSD may have potential therapeutic use for people with psychiatric disorders, such as depression and anxiety.
